Lunch & a Drive
Let's try to find the "pumpkin" restaurant in Olinda. . .
Oficina do Sabor
The restaurant name translates into "taste workshop." It was a valuable asset to have our son as our tour guide, especially having "gone before" in order to have an itinerary for us. I had seen several of his restaurant photos through the years of how Brazilians serve shrimp or chicken in a cheese sauce, in an entire pumpkin (about 8" diameter for 2 . . . not our gigantic ones for carving, ALTHO!!! -- thinking about it, if you took out all the racks in the oven & baked the pumpkin to al dente, & were making the dish to "feed a crowd," it would be quite spectacular!) I googled "brazilian shrimp in cheese sauce in a pumpkin" & there are many recipes to learn about the process.
With appreciation to the smiling staff, we head off on to the streets to get a view of the town.
The church above was not open, but it was neat to swing around the wall to see the facade. Our destination was the following: Catholic Basilica and Monastery of St. Benedict, Olinda - Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil (below)
